Scale and fouling can be very damaging to your membrane system, costing you a loss in production and money. That’s why it’s important to invest in antiscalant chemicals to clean the system properly.
Scale is a white chalky buildup of calcium minerals that occur as the water precipitates. Some common examples of scale are calcium carbonate (CaCO3), calcium sulfate (CASO4), barium sulfate (BaSO4), and strontium sulfate (SrSO4). Less common but equally problematic are silica (SiO2) and calcium fluoride (CaF) scales. Over time without the proper treatment scale and other contaminants can build up and reduce the production flow of your system. To counteract or prevent this from occurring, RO chemicals such as antiscalants can be used to reduce the amount of contaminants that attach to the membrane surface during production. Antiscalants help to keep membranes from fouling so that water will flow smoothly through. Many antiscalants work to combat scaling and fouling by bonding with whatever contaminants are in the water, preventing it from attaching or sticking to the membrane surface. These contaminants are then allowed to pass through the membrane, and into the drain flow
Antiscalants; Antiscalant Treatment Chemicals- Pure Aqua, Inc.'s extensive range of advanced technology antiscalants and antiscalant water treatment chemicals have been developed to manage the problems associated with hard water, specifically hardness salts and the formation of scale across a wide range of commercial, industrial and process environments.
Pure Aqua, Inc.'s special antiscalants offer superior quality performance characteristics over a range of applications. For further information about our special antiscalant products please select the product title to review additional descriptions and specification details and MSDS’s.
The antiscalant chemical from Pure Aqua, Inc. is designed to eliminate scale and reduce fouling in membrane systems, regardless of the feed water source.
Pure Aqua, Inc. offers PA0100 as an antiscalant. It is a liquid antiscalant/dispersant blended to inhibit scale and disperse colloidal particles in cellulose acetate and thin film membrane separation systems. The formulation has been certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) under ANSI/NSF Standard 60 for use in producing potable water.

We also can supply other RO antiscalant chemicals like PTP0100.

Performance
Antiscalant offers a variety of performance and application benefits:

  • Powerful inhibitor against a variety scales including:
    CaCO3 CCPP>900
    (LSI>2.8)
    CaSO4 3.0 x Ksp
    BaSO4 105 x Ksp
    SrSO4 20 x Ksp
    CaF 1000 x Ksp
    SiO2 120ppm
  • Highly effective at low dose rates in a wide range of Feed water types and pH ranges.
  • Compatible with polyelectrolytes
  • Provides both scale and inorganic fouling control
  • Compatible with all membrane types

Successful membrane cleaning relies on both the effectiveness of the cleaning compounds and the design and operation of the cleaning equipment. Pure Aqua, Inc. can offer suggestions on cleaning system design and cleaning procedures to ensure the most effective results.
